Assistant Golf Professional

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Assistant Golf Professional performs numerous tasks related to the daily operation of the golf course including but not limited to; reserving tee times, checking in patrons, managing the driving range operations, merchandising, tournament operations, program implementation, and golf cart fleet management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides excellent customer service; responds to complaints and concerns.
• Follows and assists with enforcing golf course rules for all patrons.
• Operates the daily tee sheet to ensure a quality playing experience for all patrons.
• Sells merchandise to meet goals set by the Head Golf Professional.
• Provides expertise to customers on the game of golf and its rules and techniques.
• Promotes the game of golf and Quail Dunes Golf Course.
• Assists with tournament operations from inception to completion of event.
• Collects payments and prepares daily revenue reports. Makes daily cash and credit card deposits of revenue as outlined by City policy.
• Ensures cleanliness of all amenities within the facility.
• Assists with the coordination and operation of all programs run by the City of Fort Morgan.
• Acts as a public relations agent for the Golf Course.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years of previous experience
and leadership of other workers; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations as needed.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

PGA/PGM Apprentice Level 1 and must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to express ideas clearly and concisely. Must be able to communicate problems with supervisor.

REASONING ABILITY

Must be able to decipher how and what needs to be done tactfully.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

• Understanding of the game of golf, its rules and regulations.
• Outstanding customer service skills, the ability to provide positive customer service at all times.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with maintenance staff, the Head Golf Professional, the First Assistant Golf Professional and the public.
• Ability to work some irregular hours, including weekdays and weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Primary tasks involve standing for periods of four or more hours at a time. Also required is the ability to exert moderate, though not constant, physical effort; typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet conditions, heat or cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
